The Pandorica Restaurant Website Redesign

The Pandorica Restaurant, a beloved dining destination known for its unique fandom ambiance and exceptional cuisine, sought to modernize its online presence. Although the original website was made with Wix, it was not professionally designed. The online menu was impossible to maintain, yet the restaurant wanted patrons to "scan for the menu" when they sat down to order. This site did not reflect the visual elements in this science fiction fandom, and was tricky to navigate. 

To address these issues, The Pandorica Restaurant partnered with Web Marketing Star to develop a new website using Wix, resulting in the launch of The Pandorica Restaurant.

Challenges with the Old Website

The previous website presented several challenges. The design was outdated, with a cluttered layout that made navigation difficult for users. Key information such as the menu, hours of operation, and contact details were not easily accessible.

Additionally, the site was not optimized for mobile devices, leading to a subpar user experience for visitors accessing the site from smartphones and tablets.

As a fandom-themed restaurant, the website missed the opportunity to engage fans using "inside jokes"--quotes and imagry that only hard-core fans would recognize. Also, it was difficult to add and promote events, which are crucial for boosting revenue and attracting fans.

These issues collectively hindered the restaurant's ability to engage with potential customers and convert website visits into sit-down customers.

Objectives for the New Website

In redesigning The Pandorica Restaurant's website, our primary objectives were to create a visually appealing, user-friendly platform that accurately reflected the restaurant's brand and offerings.

We aimed to enhance the site's functionality, ensuring that key information was readily accessible and that the site was fully optimized for mobile devices.

Additionally, we sought to incorporate modern design elements and features that would improve user engagement and drive more reservations and sit-down customers.

Our Process

Utilizing Wix, we embarked on a comprehensive redesign process. We began with a thorough analysis of the old website to identify areas for improvement. Our intern prepared a complete website redesign plan and met with the entire Web Marketing Star team for a collaborative design session. We crafted a new logo and a modern, clean layout that resembled a blue phone box, aligned with the fandom. All major elements of the website were placed inside the blue box as teasers that link to detailed pages for easy navigation. High-quality images of the restaurant and its dishes were incorporated to create a visually engaging experience.

We also ensured that the new site provided an optimal viewing experience on both desktop and mobile. We incorporated Wix's built-in Menu app, Events app, and payment features. The restaurant did not want to add online ordering or a reservation system.

The restaurant placed laminated QR codes on the tables and encouraged sit-down customers to scan the code to view the menu. The code linked directly to the menu page. After patrons ordered, they were likely to navigate the rest of the website.

The home page was completely customized. We used Wix CMS to automatically update a custom Event widget. The page has delightful fan-friendly effects on hover and click. Fandom effects continued throughout all website pages. These subtle "Easter Eggs" got fans talking!

The new website has significantly improved The Pandorica Restaurant's online presence. The modern design and intuitive navigation have received positive feedback from both existing and new customers. An emphasis on upcoming events, both special and recurring, has brought in customers and revenue. Collecting payment for tickets in advance on the Wix website reduced the financial impact of "no-shows."

The mobile optimization has led to a noticeable increase in traffic from mobile devices, and the integrated reservation system has streamlined the ordering process.

The enhanced visual appeal and user-friendly interface have also contributed to longer site visits and lower bounce rates, indicating a higher level of user engagement.

The redesign of The Pandorica Restaurant's website has been a resounding success, achieving all of the objectives set out at the project's inception. By leveraging the capabilities of Wix , we were able to create a dynamic, engaging online platform that not only reflects the restaurant's unique brand but also enhances the overall user experience.
